Where to Stay in Liberec

The centre for convenience, the tower for the experience, the mountains for the morning air. Here is how to choose.

Liberec is small enough that almost any hotel works, and cheap enough that you can afford a good one. The real choice is between the city — where trams, restaurants and every indoor attraction are on the doorstep — and a night somewhere memorable outside it.

There are four sensible bases. The city centre for a first visit and for travel without a car; Ještěd and the south-western suburbs for the mountain; the Jizera Mountains side — Jablonec, Josefův Důl and the hill above the city — for skiing and walking; and Hrubá Skála in the Bohemian Paradise for the rocks.

Guest scores are Trip.com’s (out of 10), checked in October 2026. Several of these hotels have only a handful of reviews there, and we say so where it matters. We do not quote nightly rates, because prices swing between ski weekends, event dates and the quiet months — every card links to Trip.com for live availability.

How to choose

  • Arriving by bus or train? Stay in the centre; the Imperial is closest to the stations, the Radnice and Zlatý Lev closest to the square.
  • With children? The Babylon hotel puts the water park and iQLANDIA under or beside your roof.
  • A night to remember? Hotel Ještěd — but check how you will get up and down while the cable car is closed.
  • Here to ski? Look at the Jizera Mountains side and book well ahead for February.
  • Touring by car? Split your stay: two nights in Liberec, one at Hrubá Skála.

Booking tips

  • The Jizerská 50 weekend in February, Christmas to New Year and the Czech spring school holidays fill the mountain hotels first.
  • Several city hotels use self check-in: you receive a code by message. Convenient for late buses — make sure your phone works abroad.
  • Ask about parking in the centre; street parking is paid and limited.
  • Mountain chalets and small pensions in Bedřichov are often booked directly or through local agencies rather than on international platforms.

Once your bed is sorted, see what to do and which tours are worth adding.

Where to stay: FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Liberec?

The centre, between the town hall and the stations. Everything in the city is then within a walk or a short tram ride.

Can you stay in the Ještěd tower?

Yes. Hotel Ještěd occupies part of the tower. Rooms are simple and few, so book ahead, and check current access to the summit.

Where should I stay for cross-country skiing?

As close to Bedřichov or the plateau as you can: in the mountains themselves, in Jablonec nad Nisou, or in Liberec with the ski bus.

Is it better to stay in Liberec or in the Bohemian Paradise?

Liberec if you want a city with evening life and variety; Hrubá Skála or Turnov if hiking in the rocks is the main point of your trip.

Are hotels in Liberec expensive?

No — rates are usually well below Prague’s. They rise on ski weekends and during large sports events and trade fairs.
